This comment is ironic because masses are appall to put a stop to something that is obviously injustice to bon ton simply because people are afraid to question authority and tradition. On page 64, Mrs. Hutchinson yells to some other citizens stating, Make them riposte their chance! This comment is ironic because she is the one later elect to die by stones thrown at her from the very people that she is yelling at. Mrs. Hutchinsons death could have easily been pr razeted if someone, anyone had the grit to jut up for what they feel is right and justice.         Jackson uses color in to describe the mood of the story by frequently employ the color black. The black encase is tradition for the small townspeople this story was based in, the citizens were afraid to question authority and agitate the box cleaned up, but no one liked to roll even as much tradition as was represented by the black box¦the box grew shabbier each year....
